The Millennium Phab Club is a Youth and Community organisation geographically located
in town centre Jarrow.
In October 1999 we moved into new purpose built premises, a fully accessible building which
is linked to Jarrow Community Association and Mid Tyne Activities Centre for people who are uwaged.
The aim of our organisation is to integrate people of different abilities in social, educational
and leisure activity.
We work with people of all ages some of whom experience disability, both learning and physical
disabilties.
We also currently work towards inclusiveness Borough wide, having outreach projects which
enable disabled young people to access their local communities as well as the Millennium Phab Club.
We are managed by a management committee of 22, which includes 6 officers, section representatives,
volunteers and members. 10 of the committee personally experience disability.
Since moving into our new premises we have increased our membership from 220 to 550, staffing
increase of 15 new staff part time and one full time.
As an organisation we have 22 years experience of working in the Borough Of South Tyneside
with people of all different abilities and have developed the organisation alongside our learning around disabilities issues.
By listening to people we have developed into a flagship organisation filling gaps in provision and always changing to move
with need.
